The Assistant Controller is responsible for maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations and closing tasks, assisting with the budget process, supporting grower accounting as needed, responding to information requests by management, auditors or other agencies, supervising the accounting assistant, and participating in process improvement opportunities. This is a hands-on position with a variety of accounting and finance responsibilities. The successful candidate will be an analytical problem solver who possesses excellent communication skills with strong technical abilities.Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts in compliance with GAAP.
- Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
- Completing month end reports and other reporting and analysis as needed
- Contributing to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
- Assisting with grower accounting as needed
- Participate in the physical inventory count three times per year
- Assist and track capital projects and purchases, maintain depreciation schedules.
- Performing monthly variance analysis with department and product-level detail
- Responding to ad hoc information requests from management
- Preparing and submitting annual audit requests and responding to auditor inquiries
- Developing automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of accounting experience (public accounting experience preferred)
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Experience in systems setup or conversion preferred
- Experience in automating tasks and improving the efficiency of accounting processes preferred
- Grower accounting experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills
- Good problem solving
- Ability to write, communicate, understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information in English.
- Ability to plan, organize, and carry out assignments from management staff with minimal direction.
- Ability to analyze situations, interpret data and make decisions that have moderate impact on immediate work unit.
- Ability to organize and prioritize job duties in an effective and timely manner, set priorities and meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to maintain accurate files and records.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- High level of proficiency with ERP systems (Famous or Compu-Tech preferred)
Physical & Travel Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to work in Legendary Fruit's Chelan offices at least 3 to 4 days per week
