Job Description

About the job Controller SDL is partnering with a dynamic and growing small retail business seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our financial operations. This individual contributor role offers flexibility (full-time or part-time) and excellent work-life balance. It is a hybrid role that requires 2-3 days per week on site at the company's headquarters in the Danvers, MA area. You'll work directly with the owner and play a key role in the company's financial health.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable Perform bank and account reconciliations Track and reconcile inventory levels and inventory-related transactions Monitor and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and gross margin trends Coordinate with retail operations to ensure accurate inventory accounting Assist in pricing and margin analysis to support profitability goals Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections Oversee general ledger maintenance and month-end close Generate financial reports to support business decisions Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards Support year-end tax preparation and work with external accountants Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of relevant accounting experience Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently Retail experience is a plus This is a flexible, impactful role ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative small business environment and values work-life balance.
