Position Overview Solar Holler is seeking a highly qualified individual to provide Director-level financial advisory and close oversight. This person will elevate our financial governance, provide strategic guidance, and ensure rigorous quality control over our existing accounting operations. The selected individual will supervise our internal team of two accountants, shifting the firm's focus from daily transactional processing to high-level strategic architecture and industry-specific compliance. Key ResponsibilitiesSupervision & Quality Control Provide direct oversight, review, and final sign-off on the month-end and year-end close processes executed by our internal accounting team (who currently manage Billing, A/R, A/P, and GL). Establish and enforce a standardized close calendar to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting and statements. Ensure rigorous quality control over all financial transactions and consolidated reporting. Strategic Accounting Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reporting. Implement 13-week rolling cash flow forecasting, working capital optimization, and strategic capital advisory. Provide actionable financial analysis and advisory directly to executive leadership. Assist leadership in translating financial data into strategic narratives for board meetings and investor presentations, including regular cadence touchpoints with commercial leaders. Conduct recurring (monthly/quarterly) budget-vs-actual reviews with department heads (e.g., Marketing, Procurement) to ensure spend alignment and eliminate financial surprises. Project & Specialized Accounting Oversee specialized accounting critical to the solar and storage industries, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, project-level financing and tax credit monetization strategies, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and job-costing variance analysis. Partner with Sales and Operations to monitor Price Per Watt (PPW), contribution margins by install type, and proactively report shifts in COGS, labor, or material costs that impact pricing models. Research technical accounting issues to maintain compliance with both GAAP and tax-based accounting principles. Provide CapEx ROI/lease-vs-buy analysis for equipment, inventory carrying cost analysis, and cross-functional coordination on the A/R pipeline. Internal Controls & Workflow Governance Develop, document, and monitor business processes and internal control policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, reduce audit risk, and ensure proper segregation of duties. Assist in the implementation, continuous improvement, and administration of our ERP application (NetSuite), optimizing system architecture to enhance reporting cycles. External Audit & Tax Liaison Lead and coordinate the annual Review process, serving as the primary liaison with our external CPA firm, and assess any changes necessary. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Qualifications & Firm Requirements Proven working experience operating in a leadership capacity, successfully supervising accounting teams. Expertise in solar, EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction), or complex project-based accounting. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including both GAAP and tax-based accounting, and consolidating entries. Experience with creating consolidated financial statements. Strong proficiency and administration skills with advanced ERP systems, particularly NetSuite. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, utilizing Excel, AI-based tools, and advanced financial modeling tools.

Logistics Location:

While remote candidates will be considered, Huntington, WV area candidates are preferred. Regular appearances in our Huntington office and warehouse are expected.

Pay:

$75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
