Job Description

Kyle Clarke with Robert Half of Buffalo, NY has partnered with a local commercial real estate firm that is in need of a Controller. This opportunity is located in Buffalo, New York. This position offers close collaboration with senior leadership and ownership, along with meaningful involvement in accounting operations, financial planning, and strategic decision-making. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting specialist who wants to expand beyond a traditional public accounting path and contribute to a growing real estate and family office environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the company's accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records across real estate entities and related business operations.
  • Lead the monthly and year-end close process, ensuring timely reporting, account reconciliations, and compliance with internal standards.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and analysis that support operational and investment decisions.
  • Coordinate tax-related activities, including annual filings, audit support, and collaboration with external tax advisors.
  • Monitor property and corporate financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improved controls and efficiency.
  • Partner with ownership and executive leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and long-term financial planning.
  • Strengthen accounting procedures, documentation practices, and record management to improve accuracy and organization across the finance function.
