Position Summary The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the Company's accounting and financial reporting functions and serves as a key resource for technical accounting, financial reporting, audit, tax, internal controls, and process improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting Responsibilities:
Review journal entries and support documentation prepared by accounting staff. Assist with complex or non-routine accounting transactions. Maintain monthly close procedures and checklists. Provide support to accounting team for PP&E transactions and depreciation calculations. Review and analyze balance sheet and profit & loss accounts for unexpected balance or variances. Review account reconciliations prepared by accounting staff for accuracy and proper support. Assist controller with implementing accounting new accounting standards or policy changes. Research accounting issues under U.S. GAAP and IFRS and apply appropriate guidance. Prepare monthly management reporting package. Prepare monthly variance analysis for consolidation reporting to the Company's parent company. Prepare and review quarterly consolidation packages, schedules, and questionnaires for reporting to the Company's parent company. Assist controller with preparation of the Company's annual financial statements and footnotes. Coordinate requests from external auditors. Familiarity with payroll processing and related procedures Prepare and review audit schedules and support documentation. Review inventory valuation, accounting reserves, and inventory adjustments for appropriateness. Assist with cost accounting analysis. Identify and analyze operating variances to budget and prior year. Support the Controller in understanding and communicating the Company's operating results. Calculate and monitor KPIs. Assist with preparation of monthly balance sheet, cash flow, and profitability forecasts. Participate in the annual budgeting process. Support the Company's internal controls environment and maintain appropriate documentation of accounting procedures and controls. Coordinate with Company's parent company for any applicable JSOX requirements. Identify and implement departmental process improvements. Prepare and review regulatory compliance reporting to the Company's parent company. Coordinate information requests from external tax advisors and assist with preparation of federal, state, and local filings. Coordinate with external tax advisors for preparation of quarterly tax provision. Support resolution of any tax compliance matters, as needed. Provide guidance and support to accounting staff. Provide support to accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
Experience:
5+ years of progressive accounting and financial analysis experience. Experience with manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments preferred. Strong background in cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting preferred. Public accounting experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS Understanding of cost accounting principles. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Query, SQL. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
Pay:
$105,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
