Type:
full-time Guy Roofing is seeking a hands on, growth oriented Controller to lead the accounting function and build scalable financial processes to support continued expansion. This role is responsible for overseeing all core accounting activities while partnering closely with operations and executive leadership to ensure accurate job costing, disciplined financial controls, and timely, decision ready reporting. The ideal candidate brings deep construction accounting experience, strong ERP leadership (preferably Acumatica), and the ability to translate financial data into insights that improve project performance, cash flow, and profitability. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Oversight Lead all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll, and Job Cost Accounting Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies Serve as a trusted financial partner to the CFO, senior leadership, and operations teams Construction Accounting & Job Costing Oversee Work In Progress (WIP) reporting using percentage of completion methodology Manage job cost tracking, forecasting, margin analysis, and identification of cost overruns or margin fade Ensure accurate handling of change orders, retainage, over/under billings, and contract terms Partner with project managers and operations leaders to improve job cost visibility and accountability Systems & ERP Ownership Act as functional owner and subject matter expert for the Acumatica, the company's ERP system Lead system optimization, reporting enhancements, and process automation initiatives Ensure integrity of job cost, labor, and financial data across projects Coordinate with ERP vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders on enhancements and upgrades Cash Flow, AP/AR & Risk Management Oversee AP and vendor payment processes with a focus on cash flow management and vendor relationships Lead AR and collections efforts to support working capital and bonding requirements Support bonding, insurance, licensing, and bid qualification reporting needs Maintain corporate registrations and compliance requirements across all operating states Reporting, Audit & Compliance Prepare and present monthly financial statements and management reporting Coordinate quarterly reviews, annual audits, and tax filings with external advisors Ensure compliance with Department of Labor regulations, payroll tax filings, and industry insurance requirements Provide financial data for internal and external requests while maintaining confidentiality Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team Establish clear expectations, conduct performance reviews, and support professional development Build scalable processes and documentation to support growth and team efficiency Continuous Improvement & Growth Support Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability Support strategic initiatives related to geographic expansion, increased project volume, or new service lines Provide forward looking financial insights to support leadership decision making Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility Significant construction industry experience, with hands on knowledge of job costing and WIP accounting Strong understanding of internal controls, financial reporting, and accounting systems Proven experience working with construction ERPs of scale (Acumatica strongly preferred) Experience working with banks, auditors, bonding agents, and insurance providers Strong judgment, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities Preferred Experience supporting a growing or multi state construction business Background partnering closely with operations and project management teams
