We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our growing finance team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining internal controls, supporting senior management with critical financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with applicable tax reporting requirements. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in retail accounting, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Banking:

Complete comprehensive general ledger maintenance and monthly bank reconciliations.

Asset & Cash Management:

Maintain and track fixed assets while actively assisting with routine cash flow reporting.

Operational Accounting:

Support revenue reporting workflows and oversee aspects of the accounts payable process.

Sales & Use Tax Compliance:

Assist with and/or oversee state and local sales and use tax reporting, filings, reconciliations, and related compliance requirements.

Financial Reporting:

Support the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial reports for senior management.

Collaborative Support:

Partner with other staff members and senior management to ensure accurate, timely financial data distribution and effective accounting processes.

Required Qualifications & Skills Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

Experience:

3 to 5 years of dedicated retail accounting experience is strictly required .

Sales & Use Tax Knowledge:

Demonstrated familiarity with state and local sales and use tax reporting, filings, reconciliations, and compliance requirements , preferably within a retail environment.

Software Expertise:

Hands-on proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Fixed Assets, and FRx reporting.

Technical Skills:

Advanced, strong day-to-day Microsoft Excel usage skills.
