BASIC FUNCTION
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting strategic financial management. This role works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support organizational financial stability.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Oversee the leadership of the accounting department in coordination with the Director of Finance. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the finance and accounting team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the department. Promote professional development opportunities and training to enhance the team's skills and knowledge. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. Accounting Operations Supervise members of the accounting team in coordination with the Director of Finance with approval from the CFO. Review and approve financial transactions, journal entries, and reconciliations to maintain accuracy and completeness of financial records. Ensure adherence to accounting principles and standards, as well as internal policies and procedures. Implement and maintain accounting systems and software to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. Financial Reporting and Analysis Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management, board of directors, and external stakeholders. Prepare organization-wide budget for HealthPoint and affiliated entities. Provide financial analysis and interpretation of key performance indicators to support decision-making processes. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities based on financial data and present findings to senior management. Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal grant requirements, and FQHC financial reporting standards. Oversee the preparation of tax filings. Performs other duties as assigned Effectively carries out tasks and responsibilities beyond core job duties and primary role. The additional duties may vary from time to time and encompass a wide range of activities that contribute to the overall success of the organization (floating, assisting co-workers, patients, visitors, customers, leaders, and other stakeholders in support of the organization).
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES 1
) Provides overall management and direction to departmental staff. Oversees the development and maintenance of the departmental budget; monitors ongoing budgetary compliance and addresses problems as needed. Participates in high priority special projects and activities. Represents the department at all assigned meetings. Prepares departmental company policies and procedures in coordination with the Director of Finance and CFO and conveys all senior management communications and directives. Monitors departmental performance using company performance standards and addresses issues as needed. Directs departmental performance, coordinating with Director of Finance. Prepares and conducts performance appraisals for immediate staff. Conducts hiring, disciplinary, and termination procedures for assigned staff. Provides excellent customer service and resolves concerns/complaints/issues in a timely professional manner. Effectively prioritizes tasks and projects based on business needs and resources. Ensure alignment of initiatives with organizational priorities and objectives. Manage competing demands and adapt to changing priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS
PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Possesses advanced general skills, including written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills, and mathematical knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a general Bachelor's Degree program or Associate's degree with acquired business experience. Possesses the equivalent of formal training in accounting, usually in the form of a major in Accounting or Finance as part of a Bachelor's Degree program. Must know all aspects of accounting as it is performed in the organization, sufficient to effectively train or instruct others, and to serve as a resource to employees. Healthcare experience of 2-3 years is preferred, leadership and FQHC experience would be a plus.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATION
Texas Driver's License
  • Must have and sustain good driving record and criminal/background record.
Must have and sustain valid Texas Driver's License.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Word Processing Skills
  • Prepares more complex documents in Microsoft Word, including creating tables, charts, graphs and other elements. Spreadsheet Skills
  • Uses advanced functions of Microsoft Excel, such as to create and manage databases, including creating standardized reports, or link multiple worksheets and workbooks. Graphics/Presentation Skills
