Midland, TX (Onsite) Position Overview A rapidly growing, private-equity-backed industrial services company is seeking a Controller to build and lead the accounting function in a newly created role. This organization operates in a capital-intensive environment supporting energy, infrastructure, and water-related services, with significant revenue scale and strong EBITDA performance expectations. The Controller will be a key financial leader responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, ERP optimization (NetSuite), and scalable processes to support continued growth, acquisitions, and operational complexity. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Reporting Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with timely and accurate reporting Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements Deliver detailed management reporting packages, including variance analysis, KPIs, and EBITDA tracking Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights and decision support ERP & Systems (NetSuite) Lead optimization and administration of NetSuite ERP, including workflows, reporting, and integrations Ensure data integrity and scalability of financial systems Drive process improvements leveraging automation and system capabilities Accounting Operations Oversee all accounting functions: GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, and revenue recognition Implement and maintain robust internal controls and policies Manage multi-entity and, if applicable, multi-location accounting structures Audit, Compliance & Controls Coordinate external audits and ensure audit readiness Maintain compliance with regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements Establish and enhance SOX-like controls (if applicable) Strategic & Growth Support Support M&A activity, including due diligence and integration Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management Build scalable processes to support rapid growth and operational expansion Team Leadership Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team Establish clear roles, accountability, and development paths Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred) 8-12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience Experience in industrial services, energy, infrastructure, or similar asset-heavy industries Proven leadership experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller role Strong experience with NetSuite ERP (required) Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Experience in high-growth, private equity-backed environments preferred Demonstrated ability to manage large revenue businesses with EBITDA focus Key Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Hands-on leader with a build-from-scratch mindset Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment Excellent communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders High attention to detail with strategic perspective Why This Role Newly created position with high visibility to executive leadership Opportunity to build and scale the accounting function Exposure to strategic growth initiatives and M&A Competitive compensation aligned with performance and company growthSimilar remote jobs
