Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing group of companies with operations in real estate development, construction, investments, and related businesses. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the accounting close process, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, monitoring cash and balance sheet accounts, and ensuring financial information is timely and reliable. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple companies and projects simultaneously, and able to take ownership of the accounting function. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day accounting operations across multiple companies and legal entities. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are properly recorded and classified. Review and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, intercompany accounts, fixed assets, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor records, and annual 1099 reporting. Monitor cash balances and assist the CFO with cash forecasting, transfers, funding requirements, loan payments, capital contributions, and distributions. Maintain accurate accounting for intercompany transactions. Coordinate with outside CPAs for tax returns, financial reporting, and year-end requirements. Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for lenders, CPAs, auditors, and other outside parties. Assist with property tax, sales tax, franchise tax, payroll reporting, and other accounting-related compliance matters. Work closely with the CFO on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and special projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience. Prior Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar experience preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles. Construction, real estate development, property management, or similar industry experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of financial statements and account reconciliations. Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems. High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Multi-entity or family-office accounting Construction loan draws and lender reporting Intercompany accounting Partnership and LLC accounting Real estate acquisitions and dispositions
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
