Construction Controller Fulltime Weatherford, TX We have an exciting new job opening for a Controller to join our client's growing team and work on-site at their office located in Weatherford, Texas. Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a Controller to lead our financial operations. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions while contributing to the overall efficiency of our accounting systems. The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and financial compliance for a growing construction company. This position manages the day-to-day accounting functions while providing financial insight to executive leadership to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in construction accounting, including job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, subcontractor management, and financial reporting. Experience with Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate (CRE 300) and/or Sage Intacct is strongly preferred. CPA certification is not required. Candidates with demonstrated construction accounting leadership and strong technical expertise are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Financial Management Direct all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, fixed assets, and cash management. Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Lead month-end and year-end closing processes. Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets. Construction Accounting Manage project accounting and job cost reporting. Review and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules. Monitor project profitability and gross margins. Oversee contract billing including progress billing, retainage, and change orders. Ensure accurate revenue recognition for construction contracts. Review committed costs and job performance reports. Support project managers with financial reporting and cost analysis. Cash Flow & Budgeting Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage daily cash requirements. Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting. Monitor financial performance against budget and recommend corrective actions. Work with leadership to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Compliance & Risk Management Coordinate annual financial reviews or audits. Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, insurance providers, and tax professionals. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements. Oversee sales and use tax reporting. Maintain contractor licensing and financial reporting requirements as applicable. Systems & Process Improvement Utilize Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate (CRE 300) and/or Sage Intacct to maintain accurate financial records. Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes and improve efficiency. Maintain integrity of accounting data and financial reporting systems. Collaborate with operations and project management teams to improve reporting accuracy. Leadership Supervise and mentor accounting staff. Establish departmental goals and performance expectations. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration. Provide financial guidance to executive leadership. Required Qualifications 7+ years of progressive accounting experience. 3+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager role. Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Strong construction accounting experience is required. Experience with Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate (CRE 300) and/or Sage Intacct.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. CPA designation is not required. Equivalent construction accounting leadership experience will be considered. Preferred Qualifications Experience working for a commercial, industrial, or specialty contractor. Knowledge of lien waivers, subcontract administration, and compliance documentation. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Experience implementing or optimizing ERP/accounting systems.
