Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of a dynamic construction company. Duties Oversee the preparation and analysis of comprehensive financial statements in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and ledger maintenance. Lead the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and cost accounting analyses to support project planning and operational decision-making. Supervise accounting teams responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities to maintain accuracy and efficiency. Ensure regulatory compliance accounting standards are met across all financial activities, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and governmental reporting requirements. Oversee cash management strategies, treasury functions, and banking relationships to optimize liquidity and financial stability. Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement. Maintain strict adherence to internal controls, including SOX compliance procedures, to safeguard company assets. Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting with auditors and authorities. Implement and optimize accounting systems and software solutions to improve data accuracy and reporting capabilities. Lead initiatives for international accounting standards application where applicable within global projects or subsidiaries. Provide strategic insights on financial concepts such as debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial software integration to senior management. Experience Proven track record as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader within the construction industry or similar sectors involving complex project-based accounting. Extensive knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, non-profit accounting (if applicable), governmental accounting standards, and regulatory compliance frameworks. Demonstrated expertise in managing accounting teams across multiple functions including corporate accounting, cost analysis, treasury management, and technical accounting. Strong background in financial report writing, spreadsheet analysis (Excel data analysis), budgeting, forecasting, and financial management. Experience with various accounting systems and financial software platforms; proficiency in Excel is essential for data analysis tasks. Familiarity with SOX controls implementation and maintaining compliance in a corporate environment. Ability to interpret complex financial data into clear reports for executive decision-making.
