Type:
full-time Duties, tasks, and job functions: Assistant Controller Supervise the daily activity of general accounting, accounts payable, and financial/accounting analyst personnel for multiple non-profit foundations. Ensure accurate recording of all transactions within the general ledger and donor database and accurate and timely payment of financial obligations of the Foundations, all in accordance with GAAP. Ensure employee work profiles and evaluations are completed in a timely and professional manner. Staff receive frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate. Staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals. Performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur. Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work-related absences. Manage employee time and attendance, including lost time, by monitoring and tracking leave usage, properly documenting and reporting time and attendance, identifying patterns and taking appropriate corrective action. Support the safe resumption of work by employees by actively participating in the return-to-work process with Human Resources and employees and help identify transitional work options to reduce lost time. Appropriately manage employees on transitional work assignments. Look for opportunities for improvement and growth for employees and team development. Keep up to date on new and revised regulatory and technical changes that impact on the supported entities and advise and direct staff of proper actions, when applicable. Develop, interpret and evaluate compliance with policies and procedures. Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day accounting and analysis activities for multiple non-profit foundations to include asset and liability reconciliations, receipts and receivables, disbursements and payables, financial reporting, and analysis as well as any software implementations or special projects. Review staff work ensuring accounting transactions properly reflect activity and net asset restrictions as well as comply with GAAP. Research variances and initiate corrections as needed. Review/prepare complex journal entries and review routine journal entries to ensure accuracy. Review/prepare and analyze general ledger as well as accounts payable and accounts receivable activity to include the Foundations and affiliated organizations' fixed assets and related depreciation. Review and analyze accounts receivable activity and the records of the Foundations and Affiliate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Some knowledge of property management and commercial leases. Considerable not-for-profit accounting experience preferred. Supervisory experience Nonprofit experience Strong Excel skills Experience with Yardi-highly preferred
Requirements:
Full cycle accounting and GAAP Accounting experience Master's degree preferred, bachelor's in accounting or finance with relevant experience to a master's degree may be substituted.
