•Our client is looking for a hands-on Controller who can oversee the accounting function while providing strong financial insight to leadership. This individual will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting while supporting a multi-location, inventory-driven retail operation. Responsibilities Oversee all accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, reconciliations, fixed assets, and financial reporting Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP Oversee accounting across multiple retail locations or business units Manage inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, purchasing, and vendor activity Partner with operations to analyze margins, expenses, inventory, and overall financial performance Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Lead annual audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes Improve financial reporting and provide actionable insights to leadership Manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members Support ERP, POS, and financial system improvements Ensure compliance with applicable reporting and regulatory requirements Qualifications 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Experience in retail, distribution, consumer products, or another inventory-driven environment preferred Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Experience with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold Strong month-end and year-end close experience Experience leading and developing an accounting team Advanced Excel and ERP/accounting system experience Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to partner effectively with operational and executive leadership CPA or CMA preferred but not required Our client is looking for someone who can balance hands-on accounting leadership with strategic financial partnership and who understands the unique accounting challenges of a high-volume retail environment.
