provides management, accounting, HR, and administrative services to agricultural and food production businesses throughout the Pacific Northwest. We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established family-owned agricultural business for an experienced Controller to lead its financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys improving processes, strengthening financial controls, and partnering with executive leadership to support long-term business success. Position Summary The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, maintaining internal controls, and providing financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, leadership ability, and experience in a fast-paced operational environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, fixed assets, and account reconciliations. Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Lead month-end and year-end close processes. Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures. Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance. Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support operational and strategic planning. Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to executive leadership. Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and relationships with external CPA firms and financial institutions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements. Oversee banking activities, debt compliance, and financial reporting to lenders. Manage inventory accounting, cost analysis, and operational reporting. Supervise and mentor accounting personnel while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and increased operational efficiency. Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting responsibilities. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation. Experience managing month-end close and general ledger accounting. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment. Preferred CPA designation. Experience in agriculture, food production, manufacturing, or inventory-based operations. Experience managing accounting staff. Experience with ERP systems, payroll systems like ADP, and process improvement initiatives. Experience working with family-owned or privately held businesses.
