Purpose:
The Controller is responsible for the accurate and timely presentation of financial results, effective cash management and ensuring effective system of controls over accounting transactions, accounting systems, company policies and processes.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure an effective system of controls in conjunction with corporate processes
  • Supervise and direct accounting staff, ensuring compliance with best practices and established financial regulations
  • Ensure that the company remains in compliance with laws and regulations
  • Oversee the accounting department operations to ensure adequacy for achieving the organization's strategic goals
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly and accounts payable are paid in a timely manner, maintaining solid cash management as per corporate initiatives
  • Participate in and oversee the month end close process for the Upstate Roofing and Painting entity
  • Coordinate the preparation of monthly Upstate Roofing and Painting financial statements and submit to corporate for consolidation
  • Collaborate and work closely with all departments to coordinate project updates, understand project statuses, modify forecasts, and building/presenting new tools and reports to assist the team
  • Train and implement system tools to various departments in order to assist with data collection, strengthening internal controls and building efficiency and effectiveness
  • Build and maintain data for the calculation of the company's key performance indicators.
  • Participate in the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors, for the company
  • Develop and manage the budget and forecast for the company
  • Coordinate local human resources needs, such as recruiting, onboarding, benefits, etc. with the corporate HR department
  • Provide financial analyses, as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

            Required:
            • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field
            • At least 10+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
            • Construction accounting experience preferred
            • This position can be located near any of Roofed Right America's 5 national offices (Rochester, NY; Milwaukee, WI; Warren, OH, Frederick, CO or Bloomfield, CT) but travel will be required (up to 50% of the time) to the Upstate Roofing Office located in Rochester, NY.
            • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
            • Strong working knowledge of Excel and proven experience learning new ERP systems
            • Experience with ERP system implementations preferred; ability to fine tune and execute changes as a result of a new system or enhancements is required
            • Experience with training and executing change amongst cross department teams
            • Experience supervising, developing staff and working in an entrepreneurial environment
            • Experience with working with a growing company and creating best practices and development of team members Preferred
            • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant
