Job Description

West Virginia Wesleyan College is accepting application for the position of Assistant Controller. The primary purpose of the Assistant Controller is to assist in the maintenance of the general ledger, cash management, accounts payable, and payroll.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for general ledger and sub-systems Prepare various check requests for processing Examine expense reports for completeness and adherences to policies Process daily bank deposits Reconciliation of various accounts Print and distribute Accounts Payable and Payroll checks Calculate tax deposits and payments Submission of the direct deposit file for payroll Prepare and file tax reports Assist in the preparation and distribution of W-2 Forms Assist in preparation of financial statements Assist in preparation of audit schedules Work with various Federal and state agencies Remain current with Federal and state regulations and general accepted accounting principles Fulfill duties and responsibilities in their absence 1. Comptroller 2. Payroll 3. Accounts Payable Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of related experience and/or training in accounting are required. Excellent written and oral communication skills; organizational skills; computer experience; and be detail oriented. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Results-oriented professional, capable of working independently and creatively with a diverse constituency of students, faculty and staff. Highly proficient in Microsoft Suite software including Outlook, Word and Excel.
