Full-Time & Non-Exempt Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. From our humble beginnings with one boy's wish to be a police officer, we have evolved to be one of the world's leading children's charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 250 volunteers, Make-A-Wish Central & Northern Florida granted 481 wishes last year. Position Summary Wish Coordinators are at the very heart of our mission, with a primary responsibility of planning and granting high-quality life-changing wish experiences. A Wish Coordinator is responsible for the successful implementation of the overall wish granting program including: working directly with wish families and volunteers, managing a pipeline of approximately 100-150 wish files, creating wish budgets and securing in-kind donations, and coordinating wish logistics and building relationships with local vendors. The position's priority is to plan and deliver a personalized wish experience to every eligible child across 45 counties, enabling us to fulfill our mission.Duties and Responsibilities Wish Granting:
o Steward families through wish process, acting as point of contact throughout wish journey. Build relationships with wish families within personal pipeline of 100 -150 wish files, with a goal of granting a minimum of 90 high-quality wishes annually, understanding that these families are experiencing a difficult season of life and may require a high level of empathy and compassion. oIdentify critical elements of each wish in the eyes of the child and work to weave these elements into a unique wish experience for the child. Coordinate wish arrangements including transportation, lodging, activities, expense money, medical services, etc. oWork with Make-A-Wish America and other chapters for travel and high-profile wishes as needed. Serve as 24-hour emergency contact for wish families traveling on wishes. May include nights/weekends/holidays depending on when wishes are scheduled.Wish Finance:
o Research vendors, products, and services to create accurate and realistic wish budgets. Strive to secure at least 30% in-kind donations on every wish, working with local and national companies. oClose and reconcile wish files to meet the Standards of Excellence. Forecast up-to-date spending and financial information on internal databases. oWork with wish families and volunteers as needed to obtain necessary receipts, invoices, etc. Conduct wish discovery phone calls and visits with wish families to help wish kids identify and/or reimagine their wish, as needed. Help to set and manage wish family expectations throughout the process. Assess potential risks and liabilities of wish activities, elevating to Wish Manager and the Medical Team, when necessary. Represent the organization at special events as requested. Knowledge and Abilities Ability to plan and coordinate travel logistics while maintaining exceptional communication and organization while managing multiple priorities Ensure timely execution of responsibilities in a dynamic, fastpaced environment Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English and Spanish Possess strong project management skills Ability to work with diverse groups of people Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines Resourceful with the ability to resolve challenges in an efficient, calm manner Possess integrity, maturity and ethical awareness; ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, teamoriented environment Strong PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint Desired Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or work equivalent experience in hospitality management, project management, or another relevant field. At least one year prior nonprofit or project management experience. Experience working in Salesforce Working Conditions This position is in Maitland, FL and requires the individual to work in an office environment in a shared office space. Incumbent must have the ability and willingness to travel regionally and work some nights/weekends.
