Quality Assurance Apprentice Multiple positions available Requirements High School Diploma W illingness to continuously learn and apply new skills is required. Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to co-workers. Attention to detail, logical, and methodological approach to problem solving. Read, analyze and interpret detailed drawings, models, and technical procedures and deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations. Organization and time management skills to work with minimum supervision while performing duties. Basic mathematics skills Learn basic blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T). Essential Duties The QA Apprentice learns to evaluate incoming, in-process, and completed product for conformance to engineering specifications and other specified requirements. He/she conducts visual and dimensional verification as authorized and notifies designated Management/ Individuals of the results. The incumbent performs to operating procedures, work instructions, and other activities documented by the organization and demonstrates adherence to those requirements. He/she reads and comprehends inspection manuals, engineering diagrams, blueprints, and other technical documentation that may additionally define inspection criteria. The apprentice adheres to the Quality Management System (QMS), the procedures set forth by adopted Standards Certifications (ISO, TS-16949, AS9100…), and official company policies/ guidelines. He/she may be assigned to participate-in quality audits, corrective/preventive action efforts, training sessions, or similar programs. Obtaining and maintaining certain professional licenses, certificates, diplomas, education, or personal capabilities may be required. An Apprentice routinely communicates with internal employees at all levels and may be required to interface with outside suppliers, customers, and certification or regulatory representatives. Environment and Physical Activity The primary environment for this position is an open production area that may be subject weather conditions including extreme heat - temperatures can potentially rise to 100 degrees or more for periods of more than one hour; noise that is sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level; hazards including working close to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, and exposure to chemicals. The worker may be subject to fumes, odors, dusts or mists. In this environment the worker spends time speaking, seeing, listening, lifting (up to 85 pounds), carrying, sitting, pulling, pushing, walking, squatting, kneeling, reaching and standing for prolonged periods. The position may spend up to 25% of work time in an environment that is an open office which is a comfortable, non-confined setting in which the employee is free to move about at will. In this environment the incumbent spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), and sitting and may operate a telephone, general office equipment including copy and fax machines, calculator, personal computer and related printers. Safety awareness and compliance with safety regulations is vital. Workers must wear special safety equipment such as masks, gloves, and work boots when required. Mental Demands The incumbent in this position must be able to: read and interpret documents or instruments, perform highly detailed work, assist or guide problem solving, perform mathematical functions, prepare written communication, perform analytical reasoning, withstand stress, handle multiple, concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.
