TECHNICAL SERVICES POSITION SUMMARY
This is skilled mechanical work in the operation, maintenance and repair of air-conditioning equipment. An employee in a position allocated to this class performs skilled work which involves installing and repairing air-conditioning equipment according to blueprints and schematic drawings assembling structural and functional components; purchasing the necessary supplies and materials for the installation, maintenance and repair of the equipment. Work is performed under the direction of the assigned administrator, and subject to inspection during and upon completion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inspect and maintain all air-conditioning equipment.
  • Read blue-prints and schematic drawings to determine location, size, capacity and type of component needed to repair the unit.
  • Install new air-conditioning units.
  • Purchase material and parts necessary to repair equipment.
  • Recharge air-conditioning systems with refrigerants as necessary.
  • Overhaul compressors, condensers and other equipment as needed.
  • May provide guidance to co-workers in proper procedures and safety.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
L-Light Work
  • Required to push, pull or lift up to 40+ pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
  • Sitting Resting with the body supported by the buttocks or thighs.
  • Standing Assuming an upright position on the feet particularly for sustained periods of time. Walking Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
  • Climbing Ascending or descending stairs, ramps, etc. Using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Balancing Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or moving surfaces.
  • Bending Lowering the body forward from the waist.
  • Stooping Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist through the use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Twisting Moving body from the waist using a turning motion.
  • Reaching Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Grasping Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Repetitive Motion Substantial and continuous movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Hearing Acuity The ability to perceive speech and other environmental sounds at normal volume levels.
  • Visual Acuity The power to see at a level which allows reading of numbers and text, operation of equipment, inspection of machines, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Indoors/Outdoors The worker is subject to both environmental conditions.
Activities occur inside and outside.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education
  • Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma.
  • Experience
  • Three (3) years verifiable work experience in the operation and maintenance of assigned area.
  • Computer Skills
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology, as required for the position.
  • Certificates and/or Licenses
  • Valid Florida Class D driver's license for required travel or will obtain within thirty (30) work days. Must be certified by the E.P.A. for handling of CFCS.
  • Employer conducts background check
Other Requirements:
  • Complete set of job related hand tools required.
May be required to work on scaffolds, stepladders, and high extension ladders.

SALARY SCHEDULE
