A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

JOB SUMMARY
Perform custodial duties at a Department of Transportation Rest Area facility in an efficient and effective manner.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties may be assigned based on business need. Perform custodial work according to the specified contracted methods of cleaning.
Cleaning responsibilities include:
Removal/disposal of trash Cleaning of offices including dusting, vacuuming, and/or sweeping Cleaning of restrooms including mopping, disinfecting, cleaning mirrors, partitions, toilets, and sinks Stock paper and soap supplies Properly dispose any hazardous waste material Pick up litter from outside foyer and grass areas Maintain supplies and equipment under established procedures Perform other specified custodial tasks as requested
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
No minimum experience required Must be able to pass a background screening for access to the work areas Must pass a pre-employment drug test Must be authorized to work in the

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior custodial work experience preferred In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must be able to work harmoniously in a team environment with a diverse workforce Work at a reasonable pace for the job duties assigned and physical ability Good communication skills (e.g., able to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints) Able to follow basic instructions with or without a reasonable accommodation
Reasoning Ability:
Able to identify issues or problems, evaluate and draw valid conclusions. Attentive to detail for quality performance. If required to drive, a current drivers license and clean driving record required. May be required to drive personal vehicle during work hours. Not all individuals will have to drive for this position.
TRAVEL:
No travel is expected for this position.
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE

): Must be authorized to access and work on government installations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requirements will vary depending on the assigned tasks. This position does require the following; repetitive lifting, push/pull, carrying, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling and prolonged standing. Will involve lifting/moving up to 40 pounds. These requirements can be met with or without reasonable accommodations.
SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Work alone, with no supervision on select shifts Working conditions are predominantly outdoors at the work sites (e.g., custodial work). Infrequently may involve office work. Will need to use any personal protective (safety) equipment as designated properly and consistently. Involves exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., cleaning solutions and bio-waste hazards). Required inoculations and training provided by the company.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Some tasks require manual dexterity.

2nd (4:00 PM - 12:00 AM) 3rd shift (12:00 AM - 8:00 AM), flexible days
Rate of Pay:
$16.88 per hour
