Summary/Objective Performs primary tasks of employees assigned to the support operator job classification in the cut off station/test selection. The following essential functions are to be performed in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) established for this position and will be performed on a continuing basis during the work shift. Primary tasks may include some or all of the following activities: 1. Perform pipe cut-off operations, including measuring, marking, cutting, grinding, and preparing pipe ends in accordance with production specifications and quality requirements. 2. Select, cut, identify, label, and prepare test coupons and test panels for quality testing and laboratory evaluation in accordance with applicable procedures. 3. Operate cutting equipment, including plasma cutters, cutting torches, grinders, and related tools, ensuring proper setup, operation, and safe handling of equipment. 4. Utilize computer systems and production software to perform pipe tracking, disposition coding, label generation, and production data entry accurately and timely. 5. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure optimal performance. 6. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities 1. Use of effective interpersonal skills. 2. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and vibration on the production floor. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions, including high and low temperatures. The employee may have exposure to chemicals, slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and the potential of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and subject to the company's hearing conservation program requirements. This position works in an environment in which safety demands constant attention; and requires safety equipment such as hardhats, safety glasses, earplugs and steel toe shoes. In this position, the employee may work outside, with no protection from the weather or environmental conditions. Additional emphasis is placed on adhering to safety protocols, including the regular use of specialized PPE and compliance with environmental regulations. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, sit, stand and walk, reach with hands and arms, use hands to grasp or feel; and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or balance. The employee may lift items up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work may span during the week from Monday through Saturday, with the schedule determined by the supervisor. Rotating evening or weekend shift work may be required, based on operational need. Travel No travel expected for this position.
