Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Fleet & Facilities Manager is responsible for leadership, planning, coordination, and execution of fleet maintenance, equipment management, facilities oversight, vendor relationships, purchasing, and shop personnel supervision. This position ensures that MPW's fleet, equipment, and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively to support company profitability and customer satisfaction. This role reports directly to Company Leadership and works cross-functionally with Operations, HR, Accounting, and Field Leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Fleet & Equipment Management:
Oversee and manage preventative and routine maintenance and fueling program for the entire fleet and all equipment, ensuring accurate and timely record keeping. Run the fleet pre-trip inspection process to maintain compliance and operational readiness. Troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve problems efficiently to minimize downtime and prevent escalation. Schedule and coordinate subcontracted repairs when necessary to maintain operational efficiency. Negotiate vendor pricing for parts, repairs, and outside services. Review and approve departmental invoices for accuracy and budget alignment. Develop and achieve annual fleet repair budget and capital expenditure plans. Assist in equipment and vehicle purchasing within approved plans.
Facilities Management:
Maintain MPW buildings and grounds in excellent condition, ensuring they are well kept. Oversee shop operations, promoting a safe, organized, and clean working environment Coordinate building and grounds, maintenance, lighting, security systems, mowing, snow plowing, and general property upkeep. Ensure facilities comply with safety standards and company policies
Leadership & Personnel Management:
Lead, organize, and coordinate mechanics and shop personnel daily work to maximize efficiency and productivity. Establish daily, short-term, and long-term departmental goals aligned with overall company profitability objectives Conduct employee performance reviews in coordination with HR. Ensure accurate timekeeping and reporting for all department personnel. Foster strong communication with field operations and department leaders. Maintain positive working relationships with employees and vendors. Develop and continuously improve mechanical team skillsets and workmanship standards. Promote and uphold a culture of accountability, respect, safety, and operational efficiency. Adhere to and enforce all company values, polies, and safety procedures. Perform additional projects, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned to support MPW business needs.
Required Skills:
Work independently and efficiently in all aspects if the position's scope of responsibilities.
  • Maintain proactive communication with leadership regarding:
  • Preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Major equipment issues.
  • Ongoing or recurring equipment concerns and issues.
  • Anticipate future repair need and capital considerations.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of how fleet and equipment decisions impact operations, scheduling, and overall profitability.
  • Actively collaborate and support all departments to contribute to overall company success. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
  • Good housekeeping on all jobsites, company facilities, and in company vehicles.
  • Initiative to work independently, efficiently, and productively in all aspects to complete all position requirements with follow-through in a timely manner.
  • Safety mindset adhering to all policies, procedures, equipment handling, and PPE requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive experience in diesel/heavy truck and equipment repair. Strong mechanical knowledge including hydraulic and electrical systems. Proficiency with fleet maintenance platforms and recordkeeping systems. Demonstrated budgeting skills and experience negotiating with vendors and service providers. Excellent communication skills with proven leadership and team management ability.
  • Must possess a valid license and meet company requirements to drive a company vehicle.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and work on uneven terrain. Ability to climb ladders and equipment up to 12 feet. Ability to bend, kneel, lift, climb and stand for long periods of time. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Adequate hearing and vision to safely perform job duties.
