Job Description

Please review all requirements listed below. These are minimum requirements that applicants MUST have in order to be considered for this position.
Job Summary:
The purpose of this job is to maintain a variety of vehicles for operational readiness. This position is classified as essential, which could require being sequestered at work for multiple days during a natural disaster.
Essential Job Functions:
Diagnoses, using computerized diagnostic equipment, and performs a variety of general/specialized repair and maintenance on a variety of automotive and related fleet equipment. Upfits new emergency vehicles with radios, lights, sirens, prisoner partitions, prisoner seats, laptops/stands, printers, radars, in car video system and related specialized equipment to prepare them for issuing to appropriate staff. Calibrates, programs, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces electronic voice and data communications equipment, including mobile data terminals/laptops, data modems on all upfitted equipment. Removes specialized equipment and markings to decommission vehicles for auction or reassignment. Transports vehicles to and from vendors for major overhaul/repair. Documents vehicle/equipment maintenance, supplies/parts/materials used, and time spent in Fleet system.

Minimum Requirements :
High school graduation or G.E.D. equivalent supplemented by completion of specialized training in Automotive Electrics/Electronics, Automotive Repair, or closely related field and one (1) year journey level automotive repair or closely related work . Must possess ASE Certification in Automotive Electronics. Must possess or obtain Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification within the first year of employment and/or transfer. Must not be on any disciplinary or performance (PIP) probation.
Physical Effort Required:
The work of this class primarily involves medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing, raising objects, and involves exerting between 26 to 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 51 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
