Position Summary The Die Cleaning Technician is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and preparing forge dies through ice blasting and sand blasting processes to support efficient forge shop operations. This position helps ensure dies are free from buildup, scale, and debris while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards. The technician will work closely with forge operators, maintenance, and tooling personnel to minimize downtime and extend die life. Key Responsibilities Perform ice blasting and sand blasting of forge dies and tooling according to company procedures. Remove scale, buildup, oxidation, and contaminants from dies to maintain production quality. Inspect dies for wear, cracks, or damage and report findings to supervision or maintenance. Safely operate blasting equipment, air compressors, and related tools. Prepare dies for production changeovers and assist with die movement as needed. Maintain proper blasting media levels and equipment functionality. Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on blasting equipment. Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, respiratory protection, and machine guarding policies. Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with housekeeping standards. Support production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve efficiency. Complete required documentation and production logs accurately. Assist with other forge shop or maintenance-related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in manufacturing, forging, industrial cleaning, sand blasting, or maintenance preferred. Experience operating industrial equipment and power tools preferred. Ability to work in a hot, dusty, noisy industrial environment. Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and reach throughout the shift. Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators, face shields, hearing protection, gloves, and protective clothing. Ability to work in varying temperatures and industrial conditions. Work Environment Forge shop/manufacturing environment. Exposure to heat, dust, noise, vibration, and moving machinery. Required use of personal protective equipment at all times in designated areas.
