DIGITAL SKILLS SPECIALIST
Purpose Statement The job of Digital Skills Specialist was established for the purpose/s of maintaining operation of overall computer lab; providing recommendations regarding potential software application purchases; complementing classroom instruction with software applications and computer technology; assessing the effectiveness of instruction; providing written support and/or conveying information regarding instructional materials. This job reports to School Principal Essential Functions Assesses malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer lab operations. Coordinates students, teachers and technical support personnel for the purpose of maintaining computer lab operations. Instructs students and teachers for the purpose of complementing classroom instruction with a variety of software applications and the use of computer technology. Maintains computer hardware and software applications for the purpose of ensuring availability of instructional materials. Monitors students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Prepares documentation (e.g. daily usage, title 1 reports, progress reports, requisitions, instructions, memos, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information. Provides feedback of student performance to teachers and students for the purpose of assessing the effectiveness of instruction. Recommends computer hardware and software acquisitions for the purpose of ensuring availability of instructional materials. Researches software applications for the purpose of providing recommendations regarding potential applications appropriate for student level. Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; communicating with persons of varied cultural and educational backgrounds; operating equipment used in profession; operating standard office equipment; performing standard clerical procedures; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and utilizing pertinent software applications.
KNOWLEDGE
is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent computer hardware and software applications. ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; attention to detail; implementing established curriculum; meeting deadlines and schedules; and working under time constraints.
Responsibility Responsibilities include:
working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services. Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 45% sitting, 45% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
