  • Full-time Winsert is seeking qualified candidates for Foundry Lab Technicians in Marinette, WI !
The Foundry Lab Tech is responsible for heat metal analysis, spectrometer operation, and routine lab functions. Organization, attention to detail, math skills and computer skills are important attributes for this position.
Shifts:

Pay:
$24
  • $31 per hour Weekend shifts work 36 hours and are paid for 40!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
: Maintain and operate metal chemistry spectrometers. Weigh up all materials for heat adjustments. Make up charge formulations for heats to be melted and poured. Record pour times, observe melting/pouring practices and make proper adjustments if any problems arise. Key participant in foundry scrap reduction program through documenting experimental charge changes, potential causes of scrap, sharing ideas of reduction, and assistance in researching potential causes. Issue materials from inventory for each heat poured. Data entry of various metallurgical information. (Heat Treat, Pour time etc.) Obtain list of alloys to be cast for the day, set up standardization of chemistry analysis programs for alloys, pour metal sample from furnace to sample mold, grind and run preliminary and final chemistry on the sample.
  • Notify Lab Manager and Foundry Supervisor of off chemistry heats and adjust.
Develop new curves and chemistry standards for new alloys, constantly working on improving the precision of current analysis capability.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist with weighing up raw materials for charge make-up as needed. Work to minimize melt material inventory of revert, floor scrap, and infrequently poured metals. Assist lab/foundry management with problems in scrap, inventory, heats, and following instructions. Approve incoming sand/raw materials and do the needed testing. Report any items nearing out of control and unsafe practices to operator, Foundry Supervisor and Lab Manager. Assist R D and foundry if help is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
: Must have excellent time management skills, problem-solving skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks and work without direct supervision. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Adaptability to ever-changing requirements with minimal interruption in normal workflow. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required. Must be proficient at math. (Testing will be required.)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to actively move through production space to work with staff Vision must be correctable to allow reading/viewing of documents and computer screen Hearing must be correctable to allow understanding of instructions and communication with others Mobility and coordination must allow for required tasks to be completed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
3-5 years experience in a foundry or with metallurgy. Minimum education of a high school diploma; BA/BS is a plus.
