Job Description

FULL-CHARGE BOOKKEEPER SNOHOMISH SENIOR CENTER PART TIME/HOURLY
$22-$27 25-30 hrs. a week (Some flexibility in schedule) Accrued PTO, Paid Holidays The Snohomish Senior Center (a non-profit 501 c3 organization) is an active center that provides social, health and wellbeing programs for older adults in the community.
Summary:
The Full-charge Bookkeeper is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position provides bookkeeping/accounting and analytical support for the Executive Director, Finance Committee and Board of Directors of the Snohomish Senior Center and the Snohomish Senior Center Thrift Store. This person will also be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This person addresses a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting activities, and coordination with CPA for the year-end review and Form 990 preparation.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information, statements, and records.
  • Prepare annual budget in coordination with the Executive Director (ED).
  • Ensure accurate reporting of all non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Develop and implement new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • A/R and A/P data entry, including credit card, cash and check transactions.
  • Process timesheets and payroll.
  • Prepare and file all payroll taxes.
  • Sales tax reporting.
  • Prepare all cash receipts, deposit slip preparation, and bank deposit transactions.
  • Reconciliation of all cash accounts to the general ledger.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Manage a full cycle of accounting activities.
  • Must be able to answer inquiries from internal customers and donors regarding transactions.
  • Prepare and support ED in presenting financial and budgetary information to the board of directors, members, and any potential grant programs.
  • Generate various reports upon request from ED and staff.
  • Contribute to the overall success and fulfillment of our mission.
Skills and Experience:
  • Accounting degree or certification a plus (but not necessary). Accounting experience for 3 or more years can serve as a substitute.
  • Must be PC and Excel proficient.
  • Prior QuickBooks experience is desirable but not required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must have an understanding of GAAP.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team.
