The role involves assisting the dentist chairside during procedures, providing patient care, and maintaining dental equipment. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7:30 am to 4:30-5pm• AND every other Friday 7:30 am to 4:30-5 pm (alternating Fridays) (•dismissal time may vary depending on when the last patient is dismissed). Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Prepare room and review chart prior to patient visit. Assist Dentist during examination and treatment including endodontics & surgical procedures. Stays with the patient throughout their visit, attending to their needs and comfort Prepares parents/patients to leave by giving post-op instructions. Prepare patient, sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, or assist dentist during dental procedures. Obtain dental x-rays of sufficient diagnostic quality. Record treatment information in electronic health record system. Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients. Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist. Assist dentist in management of medical or dental emergencies. Monitor dental supplies and equipment inventory and communicate with Office Manager for ordering supplies. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Highschool diploma or GED Radiology certification Ability to produce diagnostic quality x-rays & 3D CBCT scans Demonstrates strong punctuality to ensure readiness before scheduled start time. Work with colleagues supporting cross functional tasks and assisting teammates during high patient volumes. Chart audit - be prepared to bring to meetings any concerns from Case Planning section above. Have suggestions for solutions. Participates in educational development activities according to practice standards and regulations (OSHA, HIPAA compliance, guidelines and annual trainings, CPR/BLS recertifications as indicated to maintain credentials where appropriate.) Physical Requirements Ability to operate on a computer and move about inside the office to access file cabinets and storage cabinets. Ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer).
