Job Goal:

To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and effectively as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher.

Performance Responsibilities:

Communication

• Review all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day, when necessary with the Building Administrator
• Communicate to the classroom teacher regarding the day
• Keep students informed of schedules and expectations
• Consult with the Building Administrator before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher's Guide Professionalism
• Report to the Building Administrator 15 minutes before the official opening of school
• Work cooperatively and effectively with teachers, teacher assistants, nursing and other work personnel and parents
• Arrive to work as scheduled, demonstrating punctuality, dependability, and personal hygiene
• Comply with personnel policies, student rights, and Fall Mountain School District policies and procedures
• Function independently, demonstrate flexibility and personal integrity
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Building Administrator. Supporting Learners
• Maintain as closely as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she has been assigned.
• Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which teachers are subject and are dictated by good teaching practices
• Follow and implement lesson plans as provided by the classroom teacher
• Carry out extra duties of the classroom teacher such as recess, lunch and bus duties
• Demonstrate genuine concern for the students
• Set high expectations for student behavior and learning

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required
• Ability to work well with children and adults
• Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed
• Para 2 certificate preferred but not required
• Bachelors degree preferred but not required
