Carrier Relations Manager

Pace is seeking a driven, resourceful Carrier Relations Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and knows how to get things done. This role is ideal for someone with proven experience sourcing and building relationships with independent contract drivers, managing multiple priorities, and balancing day-to-day operational needs with long-term carrier growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, recruit, implement, maintain and improve strong relationships with contracted carriers. Continually seek diverse, complimentary carrier/service provider relationships to ensure our capacity to move freight matches our customers demands throughout our logistics network. Identify and monitor data and trends to develop new carrier relationships and capacity in growing or changing markets. Provide input to contracted carriers regarding their operations performance in relation to their contractual requirements. Incorporate, organize and employ information from various support departments to continually strengthen the quantity and quality of carrier relationships within a multi-state footprint. Collaborate with customers on operational support and need in specified location(s). Create standard operating procedures for specific customers to ensure shipment optimization and carrier procurement. Direct the Departmental support of the on-boarding process for new and potential carriers/service providers. Evaluate Key Performance Indicators (KPI s) and other metrics to assess the effectiveness of all carrier relationships. Coach, champion and lead improvement projects for a market, region or the Department. Employ multiple routing software platforms to identify and create efficiencies with contracted carriers. Partner with our sales teams to develop additional business opportunities and customers for Pace. Education and/or
Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor s degree or equivalent in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Marketing, or related field is a must. 2 - 5 years industry experience with proven results. True self-starter with high energy and professional demeanor. Demonstrated experience implementing/managing medium-to-large scale projects. Capability to maintain strict confidentiality of information related to carrier rates and profitability scales. Computer applications experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to discreetly and tactfully recognize and handle sensitive and confidential information a must. Flexibility to work various schedules as dictated by business/operational need. Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations. Ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks and meet various deadlines with changing priorities and conflicting deadlines required. Confidence is important. You ll be interacting with, influencing and impacting individuals at all levels within the organization. Proficiency to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present confidently and demonstrate diplomacy in both oral and written form. Strong attention to detail.
