So, the work....I need someone that has experience in the world of general accounting, AR & AP. Dealership accounting is unique and nuanced. A solid foundation will help you. Core Technical Accounting Skills Strong understanding of general accounting principles, bookkeeping, and basic financial reporting (journal entries, general ledger postings, balance sheets, and P&L support) Experience managing full-cycle Accounts Receivable (AR): invoicing customers, posting payments, maintaining customer accounts, generating aging reports, and handling collections on past-due accounts Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP): processing vendor invoices, matching to purchase orders, preparing vendor payments/check runs, and tracking credits/rebates Daily cash posting and reconciliation skills (reconciling service, parts, and vehicle sale receipts, bank deposits, and credit card transactions) Ability to perform bank reconciliations, month-end close support, and basic financial statement preparation Industry-Specific Knowledge Understanding of powersports dealership operations, including vehicle/parts/service billing, inventory accounting, floorplan financing concepts, warranties, and title processing Knowledge of sales/use tax rules, regulatory compliance, and documentation specific to powersports (motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, jet skis, etc.) Soft & Practical Skills High attention to detail and accuracy to minimize errors in financial records and transactions Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle high-volume daily tasks in a fast-paced dealership environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with customers, vendors, lenders, and internal sales/service teams Problem-solving skills to research and resolve account discrepancies, billing issues, or reconciliation problems Ability to work independently while collaborating with the broader office and dealership team Integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and customer data Stuff that should go without saying, but must say... Must have reliable transportation
