General Manager
SD2 GPAC
is exclusively partnered with a well-established, family-owned leader in the premium birdseed industry. This niche but nationally recognized company is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead their primary facility and serve as the public face of the operation in the local agricultural community. The business focuses on the full end-to-end production of high-quality birdseed: contracting and purchasing sunflowers and other specialty crops directly from growers, warehousing, conditioning/cleaning, blending, packaging, sales, and outbound logistics. They are a dominant player within their specialized market and are poised for continued growth. Position Overview This is a true general management role that requires someone who has "seen all sides" of production agriculture. You will oversee daily operations while driving grower relationships, supply origination, and long-term strategic direction. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in both the office and the field—equally adept at analyzing financials, optimizing plant processes, ensuring safety compliance, and representing the company with local sunflower and specialty-crop producers. Key Qualifications Strong grain merchandising background with proven experience originating, contracting, and managing grower relationships Hands-on production agriculture management experience, preferably in grain cleaning/handling, seed conditioning, or seed processing operations Working knowledge of the full supply chain—from farm-gate contracting through warehousing, conditioning, packaging, and distribution Experience with the accounting/financial side of an agribusiness (P&L responsibility, cost control, inventory management) Solid understanding of modern agricultural equipment, grain/seed handling technology, and safety best practices Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to build trust and long-term partnerships with growers while effectively leading a dedicated, experienced team What You'll Do Act as the primary local representative of the company—building and maintaining strong relationships with sunflower and specialty-crop growers Lead contracting and origination efforts to secure consistent, high-quality raw material supply Oversee day-to-day plant operations, safety programs, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives Manage budgeting, financial performance, and operational efficiency Drive strategic growth while preserving the family-owned culture that has fueled the company's success Compensation & Benefits Base salary is expected to reach well into the six figures, depending on experience and track record. The company offers a highly competitive benefits package that includes: Medical, dental, and flexible spending plans 401(k) with company match Paid holidays and generous vacation time Short- and long-term disability, life insurance If you are a results-oriented agribusiness professional with grain merchandising depth, seed/grain handling experience, and the ability to represent a respected niche leader in the field, we want to speak with you. This search is being conducted on a confidential basis. All inquiries will be handled discreetly. Please apply with current updated resume All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations. GPAC (Growing People and Companies) is an award-winning search firm specializing in placing quality professionals within multiple industries across the United States since 1990.
