Based in Fargo, North Dakota, Discover Lodging Management owns and operates a portfolio of upscale and upper-midscale hotels located in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Idaho, Wisconsin, and Florida. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HOTEL GENERAL MANAGER
As a General Manager, you are responsible for the smooth running, cost-effective, and efficient operation of the hotel. You work closely with the assistant general manager and other personnel to ensure our guests experience a comfortable stay. From the front desk and housekeeping to the garage and food service, you positively impact operational activities in all departments. You maintain a safe environment for your team and our guests by ensuring proper security procedures are in place and promptly completing accident reports when needed. The smooth function of our company is a result of your hotel management abilities and exceptional organization. You work with the district manager in the development and revision of the annual budget process and closely monitor sales and expenses in order to meet or exceed profit objectives. You regularly inspect the interior and exterior of the building, grounds, and all furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E). Additionally, you develop and implement policies for the good of the guests and employees. As you work closely with the executive housekeeper, you ensure an effective housekeeping schedule is in place. As part of your hospitality management role, you are responsible for ensuring we have qualified staff in place and trained in order to meet any needs. During the yearly performance evaluations you hold with each employee, you provide coaching and training to ensure that our staff is the best. With great attention to detail, you accurately track inventory supplies and complete all daily reports. Through marketing efforts, you provide a variety of media advertising within the allocated budget. When needed, you eagerly assist clients, staff, and vendors. You enjoy creating the ideal experience for both our guests and staff!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A HOTEL GENERAL MANAGER
High school diploma or equivalent 2+ years in the hotel management industry Knowledge about the hospitality industry Basic math skills Physical ability to perform the necessary functions of the job An associate degree in business or hotel management is preferred. One year or more as a general manager in the industry would be a plus. Are you attentive to detail and motivated to find solutions? Do you have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work? Can you work independently as well as with a team? Do you possess strong leadership skills and the ability to generate enthusiasm among team members? If yes, you might just be perfect for this hospitality management position!
WORK SCHEDULE FOR A HOTEL GENERAL MANAGER
This full-time hospitality management position typically works Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm . Our managers will need to be available 24/7 in case of need.
