Notice of Available Position Gifted and Talented•STEM Teacher•Steenland Elementary Gifted and Talented is a supplemental program designed to service third, fourth, and fifth grade students with potential in the area of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The teacher will work with students in a lab setting at Steenland Elementary providing challenging STEM activities based on Michigan's curriculum and emphasizing research, group work, and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Michigan teaching certificate with elementary endorsement. Minimum of 4 years teaching experience. Record of satisfactory performance evaluations. Knowledge of programming is required to meet the needs of academically talented students. Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills. Evidence of positive, effective interpersonal skills and a growth mindset. Demonstrated competence in the use of classroom technology. Satisfactory completion of the multi-step interview process. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The teacher will be responsible for: program planning record keeping student assessment ongoing contact with parents and teachers field trips modeling instructional strategies in the classroom serving as liaison to MISD committee for Gifted and Talented other duties as determined by the Curriculum Director Interested, qualified candidates must apply via the online TalentEd Hire system.
