Teacher Salary Schedule Job Summary Gifted Education Provide services for gifted and talented students in Kindergarten through 12th grade by working in collaboration with administrators and teachers to provide supplemental support for increasing advanced student achievement for all students, specifically gifted and talented students, through staff development, instructional planning, and classroom support for teachers through both a pullout and push-in program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans and implements the Gifted Education Program following the school and school division policies, procedures, and Virginia guidelines. Employs a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the range of student abilities and needs in the Gifted Program, including available instructional technology. Monitors student behavior and maintains discipline for a safe learning environment. Models and encourages appropriate behavior standards in the school community. Abides by all Gifted Education timelines and Gifted Education implementation requirements for each student in the assigned caseload. Participates in the testing program by utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to assist students in the highest levels of achievement. Follows all school and school division rules and regulations and state and federal laws regarding testing. Effectively communicates with parents regarding their child's educational progress via periodic written reports, report cards, Tuesday Folders (RCES), and parent/teacher conference days as per school and school division policies and procedures. Works cooperatively with supervisor and colleagues to ensure continuous improvement in providing the highest quality gifted educational program and the safest and most inviting educational environment. Participates in professional development opportunities for personal and professional growth Generates ideas, plans, attends, and/or participates in special events as requested by administrators including, but not limited to, field trips, school assemblies, Gifted Education Advisory Committee. Serves as the RCPS contact for Summer Enrichment opportunities, including Summer Governor's School and the regular term for Mountain Vista Governor's School. Maintains the appropriate license for the Gifted Education assignment in Virginia. Follows the regulations and policies of the Rappahannock County Public Schools, the laws of Virginia, and federal laws. Minimum Training and Experience A four-year degree from an accredited college or university on the state of Virginia's approved list. Hold a Virginia license in the appropriate teaching area or eligibility for a Virginia license with application for the Virginia license with 90 days of employment. If acquiring a provisional license, show continuous yearly progress toward achieving a clear Virginia license within three years.
