Job Description
GRANT ACCOUNTANT
Location:
Langley, WA Join Whidbey Telecom and support grant-funded projects by keeping financial tracking accurate and compliant. As our Grant Accountant, you manage grant reporting and reimbursement submissions, maintain audit-ready documentation, and partner with project teams to meet federal, Washington State, and sponsor requirements. This position is located onsite in our Langley, WA office.DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT NECESSARILY LIMITED TO
Grant Financial Management Set up and maintain grant accounts within the general ledger and grant tracking systems. Monitor grant budgets to ensure expenditures are allowable, allocable, reasonable, and within approved limits. Track grant expenditures, obligations, and remaining balances by grant and by project. Ensure proper cost allocation in accordance with grant agreements and regulations. Grant Compliance & Regulations Ensure compliance with the Federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), WA State requirements, and sponsor-specific terms. Review expenditures for allowability and documentation before reimbursement. Maintain grant documentation and records in accordance with audit and retention requirements. Reporting & Reimbursements Prepare and submit grant reimbursement requests and financial reports. Reconcile grant expenditures reported to grantors with accounting records. Assist program managers with financial status reports and projections. Support grant closeout, including final financial reports. Audit & Internal Controls Serve as the primary finance contact for grant-related audits and monitoring reviews. Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Assist in developing and maintaining internal controls over grant accounting. Coordination & Support Coordinate with project managers to ensure ongoing grant compliance. Provide guidance to staff on grant financial policies and procedures. Assist with budgeting and financial sections of grant applications as needed. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5 years of grant or fund accounting experience 5 years of experience preparing grant financial reports and reimbursement requests. Extensive knowledge of Federal and/or WA State grant requirements. Strong analytical, reconciliation, and documentation skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to interpret grant agreements and regulations. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple grants with competing deadlines. Pre-employment and on-going drug screens required Pass background and credit check Must be eligible to work in the USA.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200). Experience with infrastructure, broadband, utility, or public-sector grants.Salary Range:
$75,000 to $107,000 per year Salary ranges are based on available market data for the business sector and geographic location.Benefits:
