POSITION SUMMARY
The Grant Accountant is primarily responsible for overseeing all fiscal management activities related to Federal, State, and privately funded grants. This position ensures compliance with applicable funding regulations and reporting requirements, including Federal CFR 200 and the Illinois Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA). As a member of the Hoyleton Financial Operations team, the Grant Accountant is also responsible for maintaining appropriate accounting controls and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), agency policies, and internal financial procedures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee and report on grant activities, ensuring compliance with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements Lead monthly fiscal status discussions related to assigned grants Ensure timely revenue recognition and accurate financial system postings related to grant activity Manage grant budgeting processes, including operational budgets, renewals, amendments, and new funding opportunities Reconcile grant-related payments and maintain supporting financial documentation Assist with the annual budgeting process related to grant funding Support fiscal monitoring activities, Federal and State audits, and the annual financial audit while ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls Collaborate with grant writers and program staff regarding financial aspects of programs and services Prepare ad hoc financial reports, analysis, and supporting documentation as requested Assist with administration and reconciliation processes related to Concur and PCard receipts Exercise sound judgment regarding questionable requests and consult with supervisory staff and DCFS monitors as necessary Other duties as assignedRequirements:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Communicate effectively with individuals at all agency levels while promoting teamwork, accountability, and professionalism Maintain a customer-focused, ethical, and professional approach while remaining adaptable to change and continuous improvement initiatives Participate in required annual training related to governance and execution of Federal and Illinois-funded programs and exhibit leadership qualities. Clearance Requirements. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and maintain proof of automobile insurance.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field required Minimum of three years of experience performing full-cycle accounting functions preferred Minimum of two years of experience working directly with fiscal grant reporting required; nonprofit grant accounting experience preferred Experience working with computerized accounting and automated payroll systems required Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), SmartList, Management Reporter, Sage Intacct, or similar financial management systems preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint preferredCARE & TCI

This position operates in a professional office environment and may require travel to agency sites based on role responsibilities. The role involves periods of walking, standing, or sitting, and may occasionally require climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, or lifting materials up to 25 pound, depending on job duties. Minimal exposure to environmental factors such as noise, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor temperatures may occur depending on program needs and client-related activities.BENEFITS
