Founded in 1819, Norwich University is the oldest private military college in the country and the birthplace of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). Job Description:
Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by maintaining the University facilities and property. Work shifts include day, evening and weekend hours and required overtime. Essential Functions Prepares, establishes, and maintains turf and landscape beds Mows lawns Prunes and trims trees and vegetation Collects and removes trash, litter, and recycling from campus grounds Sets up, maintains, and takes down items related to University events As qualified, operates lawnmower, leaf blower, snow blower, and other grounds maintenance equipment Removes snow and ice from steps, roads, walkways, and elsewhere on campus Performs preventive maintenance on assigned tools and equipment Upon successfully completing training and upon approval, drives University vehicles to include pickup trucks, golf carts, and light utility vehicles Assists with custodial tasks to include sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, collecting trash and recyclables, cleaning bathroom appliances, moving furniture, and transporting items to collection points Assists with cleaning, buffing, or shampooing floors and carpets Other Functions Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information. Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner. Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned. Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software. Speaks, reads, and writes in English. Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent or two years of related experience; vocational training a plus Valid driver's license preferred Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check and physical exam Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 100 pounds and push or pull up to 150 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus Some overtime/weekend/evening hours may be required Environmental Conditions Indoor and outdoor work High level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
