Job Summary:
- RSI is seeking a groundwater remediation manager as part of our Environmental Services Team to manage a variety of groundwater investigation and remediation projects on the Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge Reservation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Leads a small team of hydrogeologists and environmental scientists managing environmental cleanup projects for the DOE. + Utilizes the earned value management system and/or project management principles to manage projects schedules and costs to ensure on-time delivery to the DOE customer. + Prepares and peer reviews groundwater remedial investigation/design/action work plans, annual reports, and remedial action completion reports. + Works with groundwater technical team and specialty subcontractors to design and evaluate active groundwater remedies. This includes design of groundwater monitoring networks to support site characterization and remedy performance. + Facilitates the Data Quality Objective (DQO) process for groundwater projects, leading multidisciplinary teams in identifying data gaps and subsequently developing a work plan that addresses those data needs. + Works closely with field sampling and well drilling teams to ensure data are collected in accordance with work plans. + Evaluates data generated by field activities to provide detailed interpretations of subsurface stratigraphy/structure, groundwater flow conditions, and nature and extent of contamination. + Mentors junior hydrogeologists and environmental scientists through regular interactions and peer review of their work products. + Regularly presents to and collaborates with DOE clients, regulatory agencies and other DOE contractors.Requirements and Education:
- + B.S. in Geoscience, Environmental Science or related physical science/engineering + 5+ years of experience in groundwater investigation and/or remediation + Strong technical writing and presentation skills
Preferred Requirements and Education:
- + M.S. or PhD in Geoscience, Environmental Science or related physical science/engineering + 10+ years of experience in groundwater remediation + Experience with Department of Energy cleanup projects + Familiarity with numerical flow and transport models
