Job Description

Grow Your Gift Conservatory of Music Private Guitar Teacher Beginner through Late Intermediate | Crestview
ABOUT GROW YOUR GIFT CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC
Grow Your Gift Conservatory of Music's mission is to continue the legacy of high-quality music education and performance in our community through educational opportunities for people of any age. We are a collaborative community music school in which students of all ages enroll in private or group classes on many instruments. Aside from top-level instruction, we have positioned ourselves in the community to work with several public and private school music programs. With a focus on building strong, lasting relationships, the Conservatory's instructors nurture their students to grow and realize their fullest potential. Instructors uphold the highest teaching standards and act in accordance with Grow Your Gift Conservatory of Music's policies and procedures. Positions are open in Crestview, FL. Instructors are paid based on the number of hours they teach.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced, accomplished, and deeply committed Private Guitar Teacher to join the Grow Your Gift Music team. This is not a beginner-level teaching role. We are looking for highly qualified teachers — someone who has spent five years or more developing a comprehensive, adaptive approach to piano instruction and who can guide students confidently from their very first lesson all the way through late intermediate repertoire, music theory, and performance preparation. The ideal candidate brings both high-level musicianship and a genuine gift for teaching. You understand that technical excellence and a warm, student-centered philosophy are not opposites — they are what define exceptional piano instruction.
WHAT SETS THIS ROLE APART
This position is designed for a teacher who: Has taught the full spectrum — from young beginners to late intermediate students preparing for auditions, competitions, and performance events Approaches every student as an individual, building custom learning pathways based on their goals, learning style, and developmental stage Understands the long game — building technique, theory, ear training, and musicality simultaneously across years of instruction Has a proven track record of student retention, progress, and performance outcomes Desires to maximize their teaching schedule with one company and is committed to teaching exclusively with Grow Your Gift Conservatory of Music
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach private guitar lessons in-studio and virtually, serving students across all levels from beginner through late intermediate Design individualized lesson plans and curriculum pathways aligned to each student's unique goals, learning style, and pace Teach comprehensive guitar technique Instruct students in music theory, ear training, and musicianship skills integrated into lesson content — not treated as separate subjects Select and introduce appropriate repertoire spanning multiple styles and periods to develop well-rounded musicianship Evaluate student performance regularly and provide clear, constructive, and motivating feedback Maintain accurate attendance and student progress records Prepare students for recitals, studio showcases, auditions, competitions, and community performances as applicable Participate in monthly staff meetings to stay aligned on school events and student progress Support Conservatory marketing efforts by actively representing yourself and the school with professionalism Respond promptly to all correspondence via email, phone, and Opus messenger
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A
degree in music is not required. We are committed to recognizing demonstrated skill and teaching experience above all. Minimum of 5 years of piano playing experience and at least 2 years of teaching experience in any capacity Demonstrated experience teaching students across the full spectrum: beginner through late intermediate Guitar performance ability Strong foundation in music theory and the ability to teach it accessibly at every level Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills — with students, families, and colleagues Proven ability to retain students long-term through consistent progress, strong relationships, and engaging instruction Commitment to teaching exclusively with Grow Your Gift Conservatory of Music
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience teaching virtually (Zoom) with strong technical fluency Background in diverse genres to maximize your student base
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS & CONDUCT
Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, honesty, and respect in all interactions Maintain regular, punctual attendance and a consistent weekly teaching schedule Demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, and genuine passion for teaching music at every session Maintain a safe, positive, and disciplined learning environment for all students Exercise strong self-management and organizational skills to manage your student roster independently Adapt quickly to new platforms, tools, and teaching environments as needed
WHAT TO EXPECT
Upon hiring, instructors submit their availability to build a consistent weekly teaching schedule. This schedule is posted publicly and should remain stable except in extenuating circumstances. It may take time to develop a full student load, and it is not uncommon for instructors to hold non-music teaching employment elsewhere in the early stages. Once instructors have thoroughly understood their roles and responsibilities, the position becomes largely autonomous — with occasional observations and feedback from leadership. We keep administrative responsibilities minimal so that teaching is always your primary focus. Instructors are responsible for two core administrative tasks: Entering daily attendance for every student on your roster Responding promptly to all correspondence via email, phone, and Opus messenger
COMPENSATION
Hourly rates are paid per teaching hour and are based on education level, performance experience, and teaching experience. Five or more years of experience and advanced qualifications are reflected in our compensation structure. Wage increases are based on customer feedback, average student retention, duration with the Conservatory, and overall contribution to the school's success in alignment with Grow Your Gift Conservatory of Music's values.
