  • $40 an hour
  • Part-time, Full-time Hi, I'm Zach Dunn, owner of TruBlue Of Northern Vermont, and we are looking for a qualified handyman (or 2)! Call me at 802-377-1897 and I'd love to chat, although I am on away from the office from until 5/18/26. Here is a description of the role below. Handyman
  • TruBlue of Northern Vermont Location of office: 133 Elm Street, Winooski, VT 05404 Looking to pay between $30
  • 40/hour based on experience, attitude, and breadth of skill.
About Us TruBlue of Northern Vermont is a professional residential and commercial handyman company serving the Northern counties of Vermont. We deliver high-quality hanydmen and small remodel work. The former owner of the business started TruBlue in late 2022, and I bought the company in early 2025, with the idea that providing high quality handymen work was a service that was needed and going to be increasingly needed with Vermonts population growing and continuing to age. It is hard for folks to find someone reliable and capable, and that is what we seek to do, is help those people in need of our high demand service. We have a team of 2 full time handymen, that have been at TruBlue now for over a year, and a project manager/estimator that was working at TruBlue when I purchased the business who runs and estimates our projects. We have the most reviews of any handymen business in the entire state, so maintaining this reputation is top of mind when I'm hiring another team member. Position Overview We are seeking a dependable Office Manager to support daily operations and keep our business running efficiently. This role is central to communication, scheduling, compliance, and administrative coordination across the company. Context & History Our previous handymen earned an average of $31.14/hour (based on 7 team members), with an average age of 40 years old . Average hours per week has been 38. Most of our work is in Chittenden County, and in second, Addison County. Core Responsibilities (Not in order of importance, with extra context) Show up on time. We start our week with a Monday Morning Meeting at 9:15 at the shop, and the rest of the week, we typically start the day between 8:30-9:30 at our clients. Our customers receive automated texts that tell them when we are coming, and that is the window we give. Always rather be early. Show up prepared. The golden goose of a handyman job is when you show up with all of the materials, tools, and knowledge to complete the job without having to make extra trips. This is HARDER because the nature of our business deals with uncertainty quite often, and there are often more than one way to solve a problem. My dad always told me proper prior preparation prevents poor performance and that has been fortunately, easy to remember. Be courteous. If your courteous, when mistakes happen (and they will), they are small and easy to manage a solution. If there is arrogance, if there is short communication, if there is a sense of disconnect between the client and the man or woman on site, it increases the chance of the mistake becoming a problem. Being kind, being courteous, and building rapport when you walk in the door, that is everything. It doesn't need to be over the top, it just needs to be apparent. Like I said above, we have the most reviews, and I would attribute that for our ability to be courteous through all, rather than because we are actually the best handymen around. Perform work in an acceptable timeframe. The core of what a handyman will do is just that, handyman work. We work with folks from all types of budgets, in all types of homes. That means the fix you did in one place, may be different in another. A handyman is handy. They are problem solvers. The best handymen are creative. The best handymen work hard and manage their time well while doing so. Clock in and clock out. When we run payroll on Fridays, we like to make it manageable for our payroll manager to simply approve the hours, and run the payroll. We don't like chasing people for hours. It is simple to do and we ask that you do so. Assist the less experienced. Passing on your experience to someone with less is a rewarding feeling. We currently have a nice dynamic between a younger team member and one has been in the game. Please pass on your knowledge, and put yourselves in the shoes of a coach, not a critic. Acquire materials and equipment for the job. You have tools that you'll be using and we have material that we'll be buying. We keep our receipts. We do our best to stay ahead of the jobs and pick up material ahead of time, but yes, trips to the store will be necessary for certain items and equipment if we don't have what we need and we cannot get it to you. Preferred Qualifications Enough years in the biz. "Experience" Enough is subjective on purpose. Some people can become really good in a few years, or specialize in something, others it takes longer. We are looking for folks with experience, and expecting that you know your ability, and can demonstrate what you can provide. Strong Handymen work is hard work. Being physically capable is important. Based locally or able to reliably commute to Winooski That's where we are based and will likely be based for at least the next ~400 days. Demonstrated consistency and reliability in prior roles We would really like someone who wants to not only participate in this role, but own this role. I look at resumes for any type of role, and if its role after role after role, I ask questions in my own head about why that may be. If you're truly looking for a career, that is the person I prefer to hire. That goes for all employers in general I would say, but likelier increases long term job satisfaction for the person that wants to achieve a high level of stabilty and mastery. Serious Requirements 18 years of age or older Valid driver's license High school diploma or equivalent Resident of Vermont/Able to reliably work from the Winooski office Ability to pass a background check Has Reliable Transportation Benefits & Perks Flexible time off $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 upon hiring, $500 after 6 months) PTO Summary This role being filled is important to TruBlue. Being quick on the feet, and being able to help folks when they need it is something we take pride in. The schedule is normally kicked out about 2 weeks, and we leave spots open to turn on a dime. You'll meet a lot of people in this role, and my hope is that you'll be the type of person who will feel good doing it. How to Apply (zdunn@trublueally.com, 802-377-1897, 802-638-000) Submit your resume and a brief introduction explaining why you're a good fit for this role, or apply however you think you should apply if you have a different idea. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
