Who you are:
The Frog's Leap Harvest Intern is a seasonal, hands-on-position based at our Rutherford winery, reporting directly to the Winemaker and working closely with our Cellar team. This role is a vital part of our winemaking process, supporting our commitment to organic and sustainable cellar practices while maintaining the high standards of our brand and reputation. You will be part of a small, close-knit crew of experienced professionals, executing a wide variety of cellar operations throughout the harvest season. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain in-depth, practical experience in a dynamic production environment. Anticipated length of employment is July 7th through November 13th 2026.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Clean and sanitize winery equipment (tanks, hoses, presses, etc.) according to established protocols.
  • Maintain overall cellar cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Assist with wine movements: racking, transferring, and labeling both tanks and barrels.
  • Perform barrel operations: stacking, filling, topping, and additions.
  • Operate pumps and other cellar equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in grape receiving, sorting, crushing, and pressing.
  • Execute fermentation cap management tasks: pump-overs, punch-downs, and blow-overs.
  • Safely move wine barrels and equipment using proper techniques.
  • Accurately track and label wine lots under supervision.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including confined space procedures and hazard communication.
  • Support general maintenance and ad hoc production tasks as needed. What's in it for you:

  • Fresh organic produce from our edible gardens and orchards during the growing season
End of Season Harvest Party Your Experience & Qualifications:
  • Pursuing or holding a degree in Viticulture, Enology, Plant Science, Agriculture, or a related field, preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; conversational Spanish is a major plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Solid math skills and ability to perform basic calculations.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Team-oriented with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Dependable, punctual, and accountable.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays as harvest demands.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis
  • Able to walk on uneven and slippery surfaces
  • Able to climb stairs, work on ladders and catwalks at heights above 20 feet.
  • Able to bend, twist, squat, kneel and walk long distances in a non-climate-controlled environment/ inclement weather.
