Exempt Summary/Objective - The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Lees-McRae College will provide expertise in developing the overall performance of student-athletes through proper strength training and physical conditioning. Is the primary person responsible for the injury prevention, speed, power workout regimen for Lees-McRae Student-Athletes. Essential Functions Develop yearly strength and conditioning programs for Lees-McRae College athletic and club sport teams. Implement and supervise strength and conditioning programs. In conjunction with Director of Athletic Training, train and supervise any intern/volunteer assistant Strength and Conditioning Coaches. Constant, clear and concise communication with all coaches regarding the student-athlete development. Provide a safe environment for student-athletes by maintaining a clean and organized facility. Provide athletes with guidance and proper training techniques for free weights and other training equipment. Maintain all equipment in the weight room along with maintaining inventory of all equipment and supplies. Maintain up-to-date records for all teams, along with proper testing to measure progression. Schedule team and individual workout sessions for fall, spring and summer sessions. Interact and communicate with all staff. Return phone calls and emails in a timely manner. Stay certified and in good standing with the NSCA. Follow and abide by all NCAA Division II rules. Attend administrative meetings, only when they do not conflict with strength and conditioning workouts. Organize and supervise student workers and coverage of open weight room hours. Assist with the organization and implementation of nutrition education and counseling sessions with Certified Dietitian. Assist with the rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Attend professional educational seminars. Competencies Ethical Conduct. Stress Management/Composure. Teamwork Orientation. Thoroughness. Work Environment Normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
