Job Description
Recruitment Information This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Insurance Division, Health Insurance Branch. The position is located on Oahu (Downtown Honolulu). Salary commensurate with education and experience. The State Recruiting Office will refer all inquiries regarding the exempt position to the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. Duties Summary The function of this organizational unit is to regulate the health insurance industry and educate the public about changing trends in health insurance coverage. The unit is responsible for identifying issues related to health insurance, compiling any required data and information, and assisting with monitoring the fiscal solvency of health insurers. The branch is also responsible for making initial determinations on whether other branches of the division needs to be used for more sophisticated cases. The purpose of the position is to independently conduct supporting health insurance rate and policy analysis and research, and to recommend actions to the supervisor and the commissioner. The position is responsible for planning, organizing and executing cases to conclusion with recommendations, which are logical and comprehensive. The position primarily focuses on health insurance policies and filings as required by law.
Minimum Qualification Requirements Education :
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree.Experience :
Two and one-half (2-1/2) years of experience dealing with insurance or health medical issues. Previous experience in dealing with public on a one-to-one basis and upper level management and related protocols is highly desirable.Knowledge :
Understanding of general insurance principles and consumer protection issues relating to health insurance.Skills/Abilities :
Works independently; conducts research; strong organizational skills; analyze and evaluate rate and policy filings involving multiple coverages; possesses good oral and writing skills. Legal Authorization toWork Requirement:
