Leads activities involving art, crafts, and similar activities. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

If you're a mental health professional who loves animals and believes in the power of the human-animal connection, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Animals With Heart provides animal-assisted therapy and therapeutic animal interactions in behavioral health, healthcare, corporate, and community settings. We are passionate about creating meaningful experiences that promote connection, emotional wellness, and healing. What You'll Do As an Animal-Assisted Therapist, you will: Facilitate engaging therapeutic groups for inpatient psychiatric patients Incorporate animals into therapeutic activities and interventions Help patients develop coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, and social skills Create positive and meaningful interactions between patients and animals Work with a diverse patient population Collaborate with facility staff and the Animals With Heart team Maintain a safe, professional, and therapeutic environment Work independently while representing Animals With Heart with professionalism and compassion What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Compassionate and patient Creative, energetic, and engaging Comfortable working with a diverse behavioral health population Reliable and professional Able to work independently Passionate about animals and their role in supporting mental health Comfortable working in an inpatient psychiatric environment
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Behavioral Health, or a related field Experience working in a behavioral health or mental health setting Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
Master's degree in a mental health field Animal-Assisted Therapy certification Experience facilitating therapeutic groups Experience working with animals in a professional or therapeutic setting Animal-Assisted Therapy certification is preferred, but not required. We are especially interested in candidates who are passionate about learning and growing in the field of animal-assisted therapy. Locations Aurora Behavioral Health -
