An Art Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving art, crafts, and similar activities. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

MAJOR FUNCTION
The Creative Arts Therapist is responsible for evaluation, planning and delivery of creative arts, occupational, dance/movement, and/or recreational programs as a supportive element of the treatment program. The Creative Arts Therapist participates with the treatment team in the development and delivery of a comprehensive plan of care and treatment.QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
Master's degree in Recreational Therapy, Art Therapy, Counseling, Occupational, Dance/Movement, or Music Therapy One year in providing Behavioral Health Services is required.Certification/Licensure:
Certification or licensure in area of specialization preferred. CPI is required and must be obtained within introductory period.Physical Requirements:
