An Art Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving art, crafts, and similar activities. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description:
Summary:
The Expressive Therapist is responsible for assisting the Therapist to complete tasks within their scope of practice and competence. This includes patient assessments, psychosocial histories, treatment planning and discharge planning activities. The Expressive Therapist also assists the Therapist to conduct individual and group treatment including psycho-educational and activity sessions. They will also work with clients to establish/review goals of treatment and progress toward goals. They will document in the medical record to reflect the patient's progress and participation in treatment.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Art therapy, Music therapy, Psychology, or Human Services field, as well as to maintain current certification for the Art or Music Therapy degrees. At least two years of related clinical experience with the serious and persistently mentally ill or addictions population is preferred. Excellent group facilitation skills and experience. Must have an ability to work with minimal supervision and be able to handle multiple demands in a calm, controlled manner.
