We operate in a fully integrated train-to-treat, treat-to-train model where performance, rehabilitation, and recovery are not separate services, they are one system. Our work is collaborative, precise, and built around long-term outcomes. We are looking for a talented, growth-oriented Athletic Trainer / Sports Therapist to join our therapy department. What This Role Actually Is This is an opportunity for a licensed provider who wants to work in a highly collaborative sports performance environment where training and therapy are not separated. Our model is built around the belief that athletes make better progress when the people responsible for their treatment, training, movement quality, and long-term development are working together. We are looking for someone who notices details others miss, communicates clearly, follows through fully, and takes ownership of the client experience from the first visit through long-term progress. You will work with youth athletes, recreational athletes, professional athletes, post-surgical clients, and active adults who want to move and perform at a higher level. This role reports to Jonathan Pierce, Founder and Chief Clinical Officer, and works closely with our therapy and performance teams. Who This Role Is For The right person for this role has strong clinical communication, sound judgment, humility, coachability, and the ability to build trust quickly. You do not need to already know the Novos model, but you do need to be ready to learn it quickly, apply feedback, and contribute meaningfully early. Who We Are Novos is an established sports performance and therapy facility in Kearny Mesa. Our clients range from young athletes learning foundational movement skills, to recreational athletes trying to stay healthy and active, to higher-level athletes working toward peak performance. What You'll Do In this role, you will: Evaluate, treat, and support clients within your legal scope of practice Work collaboratively with other therapists, trainers, and leadership to support client progress Treat athletes and active clients across a range of needs, including injury recovery, post-surgical support, performance limitations, movement dysfunction, and long-term maintenance care Communicate clearly with clients about what you are seeing, what matters, and what the next step should be Build strong client relationships rooted in trust, professionalism, and follow-through Educate clients on the value of consistent care, long-term progress, and appropriate service or membership options Maintain accurate, timely, and useful client documentation Support client retention through thoughtful communication, follow-up, and care plan execution Participate in company outreach, including athlete events, games, networking opportunities, team events, and Novos-organized community activities Collaborate with the front desk and leadership team to support scheduling, client experience, and facility flow Continue developing your clinical reasoning, communication, and treatment skills through mentorship and ongoing education Who We're Looking For You may be a strong fit for this role if you: Are clinically capable and ready to contribute quickly Have experience working with athletes and understand the physical demands of sport Communicate well with clients, parents, athletes, coaches, and team members Are humble, coachable, and actively pursuing your own professional growth Can build trust with clients and help them understand the value of their care plan Take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do Are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-standard environment Are energized by collaboration between therapy and training Are willing to participate in outreach, relationship-building, and client retention efforts Want to become excellent, not just employed This role requires someone who can balance clinical skill with warmth, presence, and professionalism. Required Qualifications Because this role involves hands-on client care, applicants must hold an active license or certification that allows them to legally provide hands-on services within their scope of practice in California. Required qualifications may include one or more of the following, depending on scope: Athletic Trainer certification/licensure Massage Therapist certification/licensure with relevant sports therapy experience Chiropractor with active licence and ART certification Other applicable healthcare, rehabilitation, or sports therapy credentials Applicants must be able to clearly identify their current license, certification, and legal scope of practice. Preferred Qualifications Priority will be given to candidates with experience or certifications in: Athletic training Manual therapy Massage therapy Active Release Technique Dry needling, if legally permitted within your scope Sports therapy Return-to-sport rehabilitation Youth athlete development Postural Restoration Institute coursework Schedule This position will begin part-time with the opportunity to grow into full-time based on performance, client demand, and schedule availability. Evening and weekend availability is required, as this is when many of our athletes and families need care. This is an in-person role at our Kearny Mesa facility.
Compensation Compensation range:
starting $25 per hour, depending on licensure, experience, certifications, schedule availability, and demonstrated ability to build and retain a caseload. Additional compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
