CPR Full Job Description Job Description:
Westmont College is seeking a full-time Certified Athletic Trainer to assist with supervision, coordination and administration of the sports medicine department. Westmont College is a NAIA D1 institution with 17 intercollegiate athletic teams that compete in the Golden State Athletic Conference. Located in Santa Barbara, CA, Westmont College is a community committed to cultivating maturity of mind, body and spirit, through the rigorous pursuit of athletic excellence, integrated learning and Christ-centered leadership. The ATC will be contracted through Elite Physical Therapy for a full-time 10 month position (starting in August) at Westmont College. Full benefits package are included in the contract.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist with the organization and supervision of student-athletes across all intercollegiate athletic teams. Provide medical coverage for all home intercollegiate events (evening and weekend hours apply) and assist in the operation of the Athletic Training Room. Travel with intercollegiate athletic teams to provide medical care to student-athletes. Develop preventative care along with evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation techniques for all student athletes. Collaborate with athletic trainers, Student Health Center, team physicians, physical therapists and other health care professionals regarding the well-being of student-athletes. Communicate with athletes and coaches efficiently regarding injury, rehabilitation, activity level, and plan. Utilize therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, electrotherapy, manual therapy, cryotherapy, heat, and rehabilitation exercises as needed. Follow treatment protocols and prescribed rehabilitation programs of team physicians when providing health care for injured athletes. Refer student-athletes to physical therapists, team physicians, student health center or other healthcare professionals as needed. Follow emergency action plan and all policies and procedures. Maintain sanitation of all athletic training facilities and equipment. Assist with pre-participation physical examinations for all student-athletes. Keep record and maintain all documentation including, but not limited to, injury reports, treatment logs, rehabilitation programs, progress notes and physician's notes/recommendation. Complete all documentation for insurance purposes in a timely manner. Maintain inventory log of all equipment and supplies. Assist in managing student athletic training staff. Create and teach weekly observation student learning labs. Mentor, advise and oversee student athletic trainers with skills, communication and work ethic.
Qualifications:
Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) Bachelor's Degree in appropriate area of specialization Master's Degree preferred 1-3 years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer preferred First Aid, CPR, and AED certification Salary is negotiable
